Quick start

How to Download a YouTube Channel Banner

Downloading a YouTube channel banner takes three steps and about ten seconds — no browser extension, no account, and no watching for the image to "just appear" in your page source.

  1. 1Paste a channel link, @handle, or channel ID (a video link works too — we'll find the channel behind it).
  2. 2We'll pull the current banner directly from YouTube and show you all four device crops.
  3. 3Pick a size and format, and download.
Why this tool

Why Use Our YouTube Channel Banner Downloader

Most banner downloaders hand you a single 2560×1440 file and leave you to guess how it actually looks once YouTube crops it. This one shows you the real result on every screen size first, so you catch cropping and logo-collision problems before they go live — not after a subscriber points them out in the comments.

  • Live device-crop preview, not just the raw file
  • Accepts handles, custom URLs, legacy usernames, or video links
  • Safe-zone overlay so you know what's guaranteed visible
  • Free, no account, no watermark on the download

YouTube Banner Size Guide (2026)

One master file, four crops. Everything YouTube shows — on a TV, a laptop, a tablet, or a phone — is cut from the same 2560×1440 image you upload. The diagram below shows how those crops nest inside each other, and where the guaranteed-visible safe zone sits.

Recommended size & safe area

YouTube stores one master banner at 2560×1440 and crops it differently depending on the screen: the full image on a TV, a wide strip on desktop, a narrower strip on tablet, and a thin strip on mobile. The only part guaranteed to show up everywhere is the 1546×423 safe area in the center — keep your channel name, logo, or any text you care about inside that zone, or it'll get cut off on smaller screens.

Common mistakes to avoid

Watch the bottom-right corner: on smart TVs, YouTube overlays your own channel watermark there, so a logo placed in that spot will visually collide with it. The other easy miss is file size — banners over 6MB get rejected on upload, so compress before replacing one.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

You can download a public banner for personal reference, inspiration, or backup purposes. The image itself is still the copyrighted property of the channel owner, so republishing it, using it commercially, or presenting it as your own work isn't allowed without their permission.

YouTube recommends uploading at 2560×1440 pixels, with 2048×1152 as the minimum accepted size. From that single image, YouTube automatically generates the desktop, tablet, and mobile crops shown above.

On phones, YouTube only shows a thin 1060×175 strip cut from the center of your full banner. Anything positioned near the top or bottom edges of the original file simply won't appear — that's why designing around the 1546×423 safe zone matters.

Yes — this tool works the same way for your own channel as it does for any other public channel. Paste your channel URL or handle and download the original file before making any changes, so you always have the current version saved.

If a channel hasn't uploaded a custom banner, YouTube doesn't serve a downloadable image — it just shows a plain background. In that case, we'll let you know there's no custom banner to pull rather than returning a blank or default file.

You can save the original file as uploaded, or convert it to PNG, JPG, or WEBP at download time, whichever fits your workflow.
